Remembering Frank Howard: The Legacy of Baseball’s ‘Capital Punisher’

Frank Howard, an 87-year-old former Major League Baseball player and a four-time All-Star, has sadly passed away. During his remarkable career, he had the privilege of winning a World Series championship with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1963. The majority of his playing days were spent with the Washington Senators, who later became the Texas Rangers, before he ultimately concluded his career with the Detroit Tigers.

Popularly known as the “Capital Punisher,” Howard’s incredible power hitting and his kind-hearted and gentle disposition off the field earned him immense admiration from fans and teammates alike. He played a vital role in the baseball communities of Washington and Texas, mentoring and guiding younger players on how to conduct themselves professionally in the sport.

In recognition of his immense contributions to the game, Howard received the honor of being inducted into the Nationals’ ring of honor in 2016. His passing has left a profound void in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. Howard was not only an exceptional athlete but also an exceptionally generous and wise human being.
