Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd will not be able to join the team in Denver due to an illness that is unrelated to COVID-19. To fill in for Kidd, assistant coach Sean Sweeney will take the reins and lead the team in their upcoming tournament game against the Nuggets. So far this season, under Kidd’s leadership, the Mavericks have had an impressive start with a perfect 4-0 record, making them the only undefeated team in the Western Conference. Sweeney, who has previously worked closely with Kidd, has experience as the acting head coach when Kidd was in the league’s health and safety protocols back in January 2022. During that period, the Mavericks achieved a 3-1 record under Sweeney’s guidance.
