Vikings Secure Joshua Dobbs from Cardinals to Fill Quarterback Void After Kirk Cousins’ Injury

The Minnesota Vikings have made a move to address their quarterback situation after Kirk Cousins’ season-ending injury. They have traded with the Arizona Cardinals for Joshua Dobbs. The Cardinals sent Dobbs and a conditional seventh-round pick to the Vikings in exchange for a sixth-round pick. Dobbs has been filling in as the starter for the Cardinals due to Kyler Murray’s ACL injury. He has thrown for 1,569 yards, eight touchdowns, and five interceptions. However, the Cardinals have struggled this season with a 1-7 record. On the other hand, Cousins suffered a torn Achilles in the Vikings’ recent win against the Green Bay Packers. In that game, rookie Jaren Hall replaced Cousins, but regardless, the Vikings have managed to win their last three games and currently hold a 4-4 record. Cousins had a solid season so far with 18 touchdown passes, 2,331 passing yards, and just five interceptions. The Cardinals had previously announced that Dobbs would not start their upcoming game against the Cleveland Browns. Instead, rookie Clayton Tune is expected to take the helm. However, there is a possibility that Murray might make a return to the starting lineup, depending on his recovery from the ACL surgery he underwent. Murray’s 21-day window to practice will come to a close on November 8, right before the Cardinals’ match against the Atlanta Falcons.
